Shipping guns in VA, Part 2

Two more places in Tidewater that will ship or receive firearms for you are Bob's Gun Shop in Norfolk on Granby Street and Winfrees Tobacco and Firearms between Yorktown and Hampton on Hwy 17 I have also shipped long guns to FFL's outside VA even though I have no FFL using UPS. You will need a copy of the FFL for the dealer you are shipping to, however.

    I read that Winfree's got robbed of a lot of guns a month or so ago. Do you know if the thieves got caught?

    I think Bob's gets around $35 for transfers. Classic Firearms (see my previous post) only charges $20.

    I didn't hear about a robbery at Winfrees. I was there last week and all looked normal. That is a good price at Classic Firearms. I just hate driving almost all the way to Oceana Air Station from the Penninsula.

    Thursday, 6/11/09 YORKTOWN -- A number of guns were stolen early Thursday from a Yorktown gun shop.

    Investigators say two men, wearing masks and gloves, smashed the front door of Winfree Firearms on Rt. 17. around 1:20 a.m.

    The York County Sheriff's Office says security camera video shows them smashing the glass display cases and taking the weapons. They went in and out of the store twice and were gone in a under two minutes.

    For investigative reasons, authorities aren't releasing how many and what kind weapons were stolen.

    "What are these guys going to do with these weapons? If they can't buy them lawfully, is it a money thing or is it felons who just want to get a hold of weapons to do illegal acts with them," is the concern of Sgt. Dennis Ivey with the York County Sheriff's Office.

    The serial numbers have been reported to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms and will be entered in a computer data base.
