Very crude and simple engraving. Winchester would be ashamed. 0 -
Hopefully Pauline will be along soon. Looks at least reblued crudely.

Love the buggered screw heads. Bubba must have been working on it as well as doing the engraving.

I think that it is a Winchester Factory pattern if memory serves me. Pauline will verify or disclaim. 0 -
And FGN?? It clearly looks like an after stamp.
Edges aren't as sharp as they could be.
Are there any foreign proof marks or other markings?
Nice rifle, nice wood, neat gun room.
I'd expect a SST on that quality rifle.
I'd like it (provided the bore is VG++) but not at that price.0 -
I can't wait to find out if this is original. I'm going into research mode now. 0 -
I don not believe that it is original. 0 -
original or not, it is not a NIB and looks pretty darn good to me, is there anyone here capable of engraving better than this ?? if so please show a sample of your work, buggered screw heads ? just try to think how many hands this rifle has been thru, if you (all inclusive) have ever put a screw driver to a guns screws please tell me you never slipped or used the improper size screw driver.
it seems to me, people are quick to criticize but hesitate to praise, why is that ?0 -

Because the guy is passing something off as original that the experts(I'm not one)here are having serious doubts about.0 -

Original or not, that is the question. Why dont you pony up the 41k and enlighten us. I emailed Pauline she should be along. Pauline you will either have to start a new thread of answer it on your sticky.0 -
Winchester style 6 is similar although I can only find pics of the right side of the reciever. Google Winchester Engraving style 6 and you can find some Doug Turnbull pics of a few styles. Still inconclusive because I know I've seen the engraving on the left side somewhere before, but I can't find it in any of my references. 0
