Seller reputation????

I was looking at a possible .22 conversion kit for my Beretta 92FS and ran across J.A. Ceiner's website...........great stuff. A further serch turned up another website which rips him, his products, and reputation apart.

Anyone care to comment or had any experience with him????? Actual experience, not hearsay from someone else.

    If you order from a source that has his kits in stock ready to ship I think you will be fine. I have not heard any real complaints as far as quality goes.

    Now if you are talking about his personally, his wait times (forever while holding your money), his poor business skills/attitude then I think the other website is correct.

    I have no first hand info but that is what I get from everything I have read.

    Ceiner is, was and probably always will be a controversial figure because (like me) he is a man who marches to the beat of his own drum. Quality has never been an issue with Ceiner products. Back in the days when he made silencers his were the best on the market. His machine gun conversions worked flawlessly, even the tricky Mini-14s which only he an John Norell ever seemed to get to run properly. The problems were high price and long waits. The long waits have always been a Ceiner trademark and I doubt that this will ever change. The man is also a real smart a$$.

    As to the conversion kits. Here is a photo which shows both types, with the Ceiner kit at the top and the Beretta kit mounted to one of my 92FS pistols:

    The Ceiner kit has a fixed rear sight and no safety lever at all. How important a safety is for you can only be determined by you so keep it in mind. The Beretta kit is not actually made by Beretta. They won't tell you this but it is actually outsourced by one of their Italian sub contractors and then branded as Beretta. The Beretta kit has a positive safety lever, and adjustable rear sight and it can also be used with the heavier Brigadier frame, something which the Ceiner kit cannot do. You also get a slightly better match to the finish with the Beretta kit, which should be expected. Both kits fit and function fine but forget all about using cheap promotional .22 ammo, these things need decent quality ammo to function properly.

    IMHO the Marvel units are superior to the Ceiner; a steel breech insert and superior sights being two big pluses.
    I've owned the Ceiner and the Marvel; both gone now but if I were to get another it would definately be the Marvel.
    In addition to the superior features of the Marvel I never got over the fact that at one time Ceiner offered his units for one price, or at a $20.00 premium, quicker delivery.
    Haven't visited it lately, but as I recall the Marvel forum site was an excellent source of information on ALL available conversion units with no attempt being made to censor negative comments about their product, or positive comments about others.

    I wouldn't give Ciener a dime of my money, he can keep his piss por attitude and lousy customer service..I just ordered a 22 connversion from Wilson, which is made by Marvel.

    I ordered from Jonathan Ciener, and finally received, a .22 conversion unit for my AR-15. It works fine, quality is good enough, hardly outstanding. However, it took many many months, close to a year to receive. And I got no response whatsoever to numerous phone calls; np notice of back order or expected delivery date; no human ever answered the phone; no one ever called back; no one wrote. I figured my money (a postal money order cashed as soon as received) was gone. I did send a threatening letter promising charges would be filed for mail fraud, as he accepted my order in the mail, and cashed my US Postal Money Order which clearly stated it was for the particular unit of merchandise, and was never delivered. I don't know if that helped, it arrived not too long afterwards. I promised myself I would never ever order anything from him or his company again.

    Ciener is apparently very wealthy; he dabbles in collector Ferrari automobiles, and is well-known on that circuit. He must be smart enough to make things that work and make good profits. But I sure didn't like the way he runs his business.
