FFL?gun show transfer

Need some advice for upcoming gun show. Can I sell a pistol face to face to another resident of my state directly or must I use a Kansas FFL?
(I never seem to get the hand of in-state/interstate transactions.)

    in most states a Face to face is legal if the gun show is in the state you live in and the other person is also from that state. .

    I am unable to find any law prohibiting such a transfer (other than in the City of Manhattan).

    Personally, I no longer sell/trade guns in FTF transactions. Yes, it may be legal, but I prefer to include an FFL in the loop just to CMA. You can't tell by looking if someone is a good guy, & I just wouldn't want to be responsible for giving a gun to someone who used it for evil purposes. Better to have an FFL do an NCIS check on him.

    In Kansas, yes you can sell FTF. I've bought many nice firearms at Kansas gunshows FTF.

    I would bring a prepared Bill Of Sale and ask them for ID and record their information and keep it for your records, I'd also have them sign a statement saying they are legally eligible to possess, own and transport a firearm in your state. Granted its meaningless, HOWEVER it would be evidence that you did due diligence if something were to come out of it....also if you ask for ID some dirt bags might get hinky, which might tip you off that you don't want to sell to them......

    That way if the ATF come a knocking wanting to know where that particular gun was(because it was later recovered involved in a crime), you can pull out the bill of sale and provide the info....makes you atleast look responsible and helpful

    I wonder why no one seems concerned about selling their used car to an alcoholic. I believe more people are killed by drunk drivers than by being intentionally shot with a gun. Go figure.

    Just did a google search and found info that annual DWI deaths in US are approx 25,000 and annual homicides with firearms, at least in 2001 were <12,000. Sorry to hijack the thread but it seemed to take a turn toward feeling guilty if someone misused something they bought from you.
