There will be some experts along with the rest of the details shortly I'm sure. Basically you need a 9mm (or 38 Super) slide and change the ejector on the frame of the 45 to 9mm/38 Super. Sometimes they work, sometimes they need a bit of hand fitting. And a 9mm magazine of course. Seems like an easy thing to do but isn't as simple as putting on a 22 conversion unit.

You need to change to a 9mm ejector and get the upper assy. and magazine. Them hope they don't need much 'smithing to feed.

Actually, unlike the Government Model, Commanders use the same width ejector for all calibers. You might have to go to a longer one, but maybe not.

But you must have a new barrel, slide, magazine, and all small upper parts.

Then hope the .45 feed ramp is not too deep to handle the shorter cartridge. A friend of mine has a 9mm upper on a Gold Cup frame that was shooting ok today but has given him a lot of trouble getting it that way.
