Schofield Question

Hello,
I would like some info on a schofield with a 5" barrel serial #88xx. Is a 5" barrel a normal length? and I was told it is a 2nd. model and would like to fing out if that is correrct.

    According to Flyderman's Guide, you have a very late production second model. It was made in 1877 with a 7" barrel. After the government declared them surplus, they were sold by arms dealers with barrels shortened to 5".

    Condition and originality are a great factor in value, even though the barrel has been cut.

    The cyclinder turns freely when closed. I assume it is broke...is it worth $100??

    sure--put it up on the auction side for $100 with a buy it now option--you will have it sold pretty quickly[:D] Seriously though post some pics and we can give you a better idea--unless its a rusted wreck it will be worth more than $100.

    Hello Schofield "GRIPS" are worth more then $100.00 if in good shape and original. You MAY have a pistol that is worth $1000.00 but only pictures will let us be able to tell you .
