I am interested in purchasing a Springfield Ultra Compact, loaded series 1911 .45 pistol with the 3.5 Inch barrel. However, I cant find any place that has it in stock. Most stores have the compact versions with the 3.0 inch barrel. Does anyone out there own one or know someone who does? Does anyone have an opinion on Springfield 1911 pistols in general? 0 -
Thousands of dead enemy soldiers say YES. 0 -
Oh I don't know, I have about 100,000 rounds thru mine and it still works just like new! 0 -

Be aware that both the military 1911 and 1911A1 pistols made by the U.S. Government Armory is in NO WAY connected with the Springfield INC that is located in GENESEO IL. that makes REPRODUCTIONS of older Military Handguns & Rifles The pistol frames are made in BRAZIL. 0 -
Even though the frames and slides are Made in "BRAZIL" they are just as good if not better than COLT and others. My Springfield that has been used in monthly matches for about 18yrs. with many thousand rounds, still shoot as good now as it did when it was built.
Check with some 1911 builders, and ask what frames and slides hey prefer to use [;)]0
