Old Leupold scope: Help!

I have a few questions for the guys who know the most about optics. Hopefully one of you is an old Leupold guy.
I recently purchased a .223 Rem. Savage 110FP from the estate of an old Game Warden who had quite a few rifles and liked to shoot. It had a Leupold 12X Fixed Power scope on it. It has target turrets. The serial number is V304403. It has a PREMIER RETICLE stamp on it. It is an extremely fine Mil Dot system. It is so fine that right now, it is not really usable to me. I'm having cataract surgery next week, and hopefully that will get beter. If it doesn't, I'll sell or trade it for something that works better for me. I was told that Louie called this one of his "tack drivers".
I've tried to find out more about this scope, including sending a message to Leupold. I didn't get an answer. That's when I remembered the help that I got here a long time ago with some optics questions. I really would like to find a users manual for this scope. I'm not even sure what the adjustment in the turrets is. It has additional scales on the turrets that go from 0,1,2,etc, as you turn them.
Now the questions! Was this scope made in the 1989 era? I've read where the Premier Reticle was a custom reticle. Did they install them on the Leupold scope, or did Leupold buy and install them on request? The scope seems to be excellent from appearances. I'm anxious to shoot it and see how it does. A friend of mine has a buyer for the scope if I want to sell it. He told him what I had gotten, and he was interested right away. I don't have a clue as to what it is worth, or what it sold for new. Maybe one of you can give me an idea. I hate to sell anything like this that I do not have to any more. Thanks, Pres!

Hi Dan, welcome to the forums here on Gunbroker again. If that is a fixed power scope, it could be one of two models. Either an older m-8 or it could be a lower power benchrest scope.
Now a question for you...do the numbers on the turret get further apart as they increase? do they spiral up to come back around above the first ones? I know special turrets are available from the factory, but not sure if leupold makes them all, or has someone make them for them, as there are turrets available elsewhere too.
I really hope your surgery helps you with this. It sounds like it would be a shame to have to sell that scope...it is part of a tackdriving package.

THe elevation and windage turrets have lines that are labled 0,1,2,3 and 4. They are lines on the turret, and seem to be about 60 clicks apart. The marks don't spiral around the turret, but are about 1/4 inch long. They become visible under the part of the turret that goes up-down or left-right while turning it. As you go lower, and get below one, going toward 0, the adjustments seem to get a bit harder to turn, so I quit without forcing anything. I'm guessing that this is a referencing system so that you know where you are when dialing in changes. If this is true, should the windage be "zeroed" at 2, so you can go either way? Yes, it's a 12X fixed power serial number V304403. THank you for your help. I really appreciate it. Dan
PS. THe dots on the vertical crosshair get progressively farther apart as they go down. I'm also wondering if this reticle could have been made to suit a particular load. Thanks again. Dan0 -
Premier Reticle performed modifications to Leupold scopes for many years. Leupold will not have any information on this as it came Premier and not Leupold. You can contact Premier to ask for help:

I don't think they are doing any more reticle work these days as they are building OEM scopes as well as the one for the USMC. Call them or e-mail them asking for information about the scope.
