    Hello I don't want to sound gruff but at least 8 people all told you the answer to your original question and you caused the post to be locked by repeating the same question after it was answered. The answer to this second question will vary because different people have different opinions I for one sight all my hunting guns for one inch high at 100 yards. UNLESS you carry a bench rest with you hunting your error imparted by body movement to the rifle will be more of a factor on a clean kill then the zero of the rifle to scope at anywhere from dead on to 1.5 inches high at 100 yards.

    Sir I have to agree that somewhere in those 8 postings there was the correct answer, however if you read those postings again you will find some of the posting had nothing to do with my question. Yet others did not agree on the correct number of clicks to be used. My last posting was just to make sure that at last, the answer was correct. I am always thankful to everyone that answers my postings. They give food for thought even if the answer is not in response to the questioned ask. Gunbrokers Furums are the greatest around as are its members. Thanks again.

    Just to prove Perry Shooters point, I sight almost all of my rifles 2.5" high at 100 yards (I don't shoot things I don't eat, so I shoot no so-called varmints thus + or - 2.5 still puts me in the boiler room of the things I do shoot), putting me on zero at 175 to 200 yards for most of the calibers I shoot.

    The best plan for you is to shoot at 100 yards and zero the rifle, then shoot at 200 yards and adjust to zero at 200 yards. In point of fact nothing anyone can say here about how to set your scope will work precisely the same with every rifle/cartridge/scope combination. You must get out there and do the shooting.

    For your 1/4 MOA adjustment scope it is 4,6,8, and 16 clicks for 100, 75, 50, and 25 yards respectively.

    I sight all my hunting guns in at 100 yards, so they are 2 inches high. This all depends on what you are using for sights, how high the sighting system is above the centerline of your bore, velocity, ballistic coefficient, and the angle of bullet departure you are planning on. Oh and yes the ambient conditions such as temperature, elevation, and barometric pressure all play a part on the bullet's flight too.

    That said, my 2" high at 100 yard sight in might not work for you, or it might.

    In answer to your original question, lets skip "how" & go to "why" to do the adjustments.

    Scope adjustments are rated in degrees of angle.
    There are 360 degrees in a full circle.
    If you sight in at 100 yards, 100 yards (300 feet) is the radius of the circle for your shooting & adjustment figures.
    A circle with a 100 yard radius has a 22,620 inch circumference.
    (pi x dia = circum.) (100 yd radius x 3 feet x 2 for dia. x 12 inches = dia.)
    A full circle has 360 degrees of arc (each degree has 60 Min. of angle) x 60 for minutes of arc = 21,600 min. in a full circle. (21,600 x 4 = The no. of 1/4 MOA adjustments in a full circle = 86,400)
    22,620 (in. circum. in a circle) divided by 86,400 (1/4 MOA increments)= .2618 inches per 1/4 MOA at 100 yards.

    If your scope has 1/4 MOA "clicks" simply do the math by correcting for your actual shooting distance. Once you master WHY it works, "how to" is simple!

    According to Charles W. Mathews Ballistics tables in "Shoot Better Three". .223 Rem. 60 grain 3100 fps. for a 4 inch vital zone ,1.9 inches high at 100 yds. yields a vital hit out to 243 yds..For 6 inch vital zone 2.6 inches high at 100 yds. yields a vital hit out to 280 yds..A 6 inch vital zone is usually good for coyotes.

    I think something needs to be clarified here. It has been explained in previous posts, but I'll try a different method.

    You said, "4 clicks=1 inch @ 100, 6 clicks=1 inch @ 75, 8 clicks=1 inch @ 50, and 16 clicks=1 inch @ 25". That is correct for a 1/4 MOA adjustment scope.

    Remember as you increase/decrease range you must also allow for increase/decrease of adjustment.

    Meaning:
    16 clicks = 1 inch @ 25 yds. But also = 4 inches @ 100
    8 clicks = 1 inch @ 50 yds. But also = 2 inches @ 100
    6 clicks = 1 inch @ 75 yds. But also = 1.5 inches @ 100

    Now if you increase distance:
    4 clicks @ 100 yds. = 1 inch But also = 4 inches @ 400 yds. (1 MOA)
    (1 MOA)............................." " = 2 inches @ 200 yds. (1 MOA)

    See how the angle (MOA= minute of angle) remains the same but the distance it moves the impact point is proportional to the range you shoot at?
