New ruger lightweight

Has anyone shot the new ruger lightweight 38 revolver? Hows the kick...wife is asking.

    If you mean the Ruger LCR I own one. I haven't shot any of the Smith airweights so I can't compare. Most say the LCR is better than the Airweight. I can say this though. The LCR is ALL there when fired.
    158g Lawman +P is almost painfull. Regular 38spcl not so bad.

    The Ruger LCR is more weighty than some of the S&W airweights. It might be balanced differently though. Recoil should be similar to an 11 ounce S&W airweight.

    Ruger can do a lot of things to try and decrease recoil in its guns, but unfortunately, defying the laws of physics isn't one of them.

    If you're going to shoot a heavy bullet from a light gun, you're going to generate a lot of recoil, and there is no way around that.

    I personally haven't shot one yet to compare, but compared to the Smith airweights, the recoil from one of these *might* be a little lighter, given the sorbothane grips.

    What I can say from having shot a variety of these light snubnose revolvers, is that having the proper grip makes a HUGE difference. You need a grip that fills your whole hand, and doesn't have any rough areas.

    Holding the gun properly (and that means a super-strong squeeze) also helps considerably.
