selling gun collection from California
Help, I'm new to gunbroker.com and selling my guns.
Because of the difficult times in our family's construction business, I must sell my gun collection.
I spent over 10 times what a pawn broker will give for it, so there must be a better way.
The collection has Cowboy action rifles, pistols and shotguns, long range rifles, many shot guns, california registered AR's, and lot's of other "to me" great guns.
I must do this legally to protect my family.

Take good photos of them and sell them right here on GB. You will get waaaay more than pawn shop prices, but it will take some effort on your part. You do not need to be an ffl dealer to sell you just need to ship them to an ffl dealer. We can help you list them if you need walked thru the 1st couple.
Some will tell you to start them at a penny with no reserve, others will advise you to start them with a reserve. When I sell something I put it up for a penny and let the bidders go at it. Its a good time of the year to sell. Oh, and welcome to the forum. [;)]

Cartod gave you very good advice. Good pictures do the most for getting a good price. Put no reserve because many people ready to buy block out all reserve auctions,They do that because these sellers have items that run for months if not years with no hope of ever reaching there pie in the sky reserve. We don't want to look through 1000's of items to find one that the seller really wants to sell. After placing the first ad come back here and give us the item number and we will try to make suggestion on how to improve your next ones if needed. 0 -
I'm sorry to hear your experiencing financial difficulties. Unfortunately many other folks are in the same boat. This might have a negative effect on the sale of your guns.
The hot sellers now are the EBR type firearms, both longguns and pistols that the lefty's in Washington will try to ban.
Not so much the common hunting/sporting guns, you might wind up taking a big bath on these, if you start them off as a penny auction.0 -

Go to the Gunbrokers home page, select FOR SELLERS, then SELLERS TUTORIAL. That should give you 99% of the information you need to legally sell your guns via the Internet.
Like the guys said, good photos are a must. Browse current auctions & see how others are listing their guns. Some do a better job than others; those who do the best, get the highest prices. Understand, this can take 4-8 hours of work PER GUN; if you don't have the time, then sell them to your pawn broker & take your beating.
By the way, my local gun dealer is also a pawn broker. I commented once on the fact that most of the guns in his store were "low end"; he said, "Oh, I sell all the GOOD stuff on Gunbroker." You can cut out the middle man.
