Fed Ex cracked my stock

Fed Ex cracked my stock in shipment...now they want to see everything...I would just as soon give them only the cracked stock and packaging...anything say I have to give them the whole rifle?

    If you want them to pay for the damage . Then they are in the drivers seat [:(] once they pay for an Item it belongs to them. . You may offer to take 1/3 or 1/2 of the insured value and they keep the stock and you keep the rest of the Rifle. either that or withdraw your claim and repair the stock. YMMV.

    I had this happen awhile back with UPS. It took a while to settle but they evenualy paid the seller/shipper the $500 total price of the gun. The seller reimbursed me. UPS wanted to pick up the gun for salvage since they paid for it. My answer was fine, but I had to turn it over to an FFL. They said keep the gun. They did send an adjuster to look at the gun and packaging. I do not understand your reluctance to show them the gun. Looking at it is a reasonable request if you want them to pay for it. Under no cirmustances do you give them the gun. It may take some time to settle. Good luck.

    Fedex did that to me about 2 years ago. I took the rifle to a gunsmith and had him write up a repair bill on his stationary, then faxed that to Fedex. They sent me a check in 2 weeks. And never asked for the rifle again.

    Of course they have to see everything. They have to see the firearm and all of the packaging. The key operative is "see"...as in look. They can't take possestion of the firearm...especially if you have not been paid. If this is a collectable firearm, such as a prehistoric Winchester, then there would be a lot of lost value there.

    Collect the money without showing them the damage? I bet that never occured to anyone attempting fraud before, so I can't see why they won't go along. You have good advice above, say thank you and follow it.

    You have to look at it from their perspective.

    I've received several rifles that were delivered with a few inches of the muzzle poking out of the end of the box, & a couple with the bolt handle sticking out of the side of the box. In ALL cases, the rifles were inadequately packed. That's why the shipper wants to see everything, exactly as it looked when you opened it. If they have evidence that the shipper did not adequately protect the rifle, they won't pay for the damage, & I don't blame them.

    Sorry for my unclearness. I have no problem for them seeing it at my house, lock stock and barrel and all the packing is fine, but they want to pick it up and keep it for awhile. That I don't want to do.

    The Gorillas at ups broke the last two I got both of them the heel and butt plate fought with them for over two monthes finally gave up and picked them up from FFL and just order some stocks from numrich
