Does a ruger model 1 stock fit the model 3 carbine?

  I have a number 3 in 30-40 krag that has wood from a number 1. I bought it that way, so I don't know how much work was involved.
  The only issue is that number 1 stocks have a pistol grip that does not allow you to fit the rest of your fingers underneath the lever when you shoulder the rifle. You just have to get used to having your hand over the lever when shooting. It has never been a problem for me - I think it feels pretty natural now.

  Yes, it fits fine but as has been addressed already, the lever is different. Usually, the lever is altered(bent) by a gunsmith to a different shape. A No. 3 with a No. 1 buttstock is often referred to as a "No. 2"
