Buggered screws are easy enough to fix, but I'd make sure I was comfortable with the seller and return policy before placing a bid.

Are buggered screw heads on a pistol an indication that some backyard mechanic has attempted to fix something that he should have left alone. Something to avoid right.

Their isw a nice 3 pin 44 Ruger for sale on this site and the screw heads are buggered. Enough for me to eliminate from possible purchase.

    Hi Sage 1,

Yes, that is a very strong possibility. If they couldn't afford the proper screw driver or have the knowledge to make one to prevent damage to the screw heads, then they shouldn't have been looking inside the revolver to start with.

I agree with RCrosby, if you are comfortable with seller and return policy, it is worth looking inside. It could be that Mr. Thumbs only buggered the screws and quit when he realized he was over his head. The screws would be cheap and easy enough to replace.
