7.62X51
Have a whole pile (700-800 rounds) of Venezuelan 7.62x51 (green box headstamp CAVIM) that won't cycle my M-1A. I suspect it was for FAL's (not sure) But I'm not sure if I should go out and buy me a bolt gun to shoot it up with. Been wanting a Sav 110 in .308 anyway.
Question is Buy the bolt gun, or have it pulled apart and reloaded to US milspecs?

Where is all this Lake City 7.62x51 ammo coming from? It is obviously loaded for the military because it is coming linked in the MG packs with tracers. Can this much stuff be disappearing from the ranges etc. It is generally not that old and since we are still involved in a couple of shooting wars, surely the military is not surplusing it out yet???

They are correct, there is some early 80s stuff that has issues.... However, if your gun is in good shape, and you aren't rapid firing, anything like that should come to your attention. 0 -
In general, all current manufacture Israeli ammo is good.
FWIW, Winchester subcontracts out some of its ammo manufacture to Israel Military industries, and has for years. In fact, some portion of US military ammo came (or sill comes) from Israel.

At some point, the US Armed forces in Iraq had to deliberately stop using Israeli made ammo in the field, out of fears that Jew-hating Islamist insurgents would exploit the American use of Israeli ammo for propaganda purposes ("Zionist bullets are killing your babies!").
Sort of silly, but psychology is still important in warfare, and since the Iraqi Islamists could never beat the Americans in actual combat, this is all they've got.
Anyway, you'll know if there are issues with your particular ammo when you shoot it. Even if you get occasional split cases, at $0.31 per round for pretty much *ANY* functional .308 ammo, let alone Israeli made boxer-primed brass cased, I think you've done well.
I tell you what, if you fire a few rounds and don't like it, let me know, and I'll take all the rest of it off your hands at your cost!0
