XP-100 re-assembly
How do you reassemble the XP-100 trigger balance?
I've disassembled a couple of Remington XP-100s that I inherited from my dad. One is 221 Fireball, the second 7mm BR. I have never shot them. I was curious to see what made them tick and one had a rattle. I took them apart. I discovered the rattle was a loose bolt stop. I fixed it. I had fun looking around, but I read that the trigger balance is absolutely critical. I don't want to shoot them unless the trigger balance is installed correctly. My biggest question is about the trigger balance spring. How does it fit?
Thank you.

Shouldn't mess around with guns if you don't know what you're doin'. Why didn't you pay attention when you took it apart - google up an owners manual. 0 -
Best way to figure stuff out is to tear into it and if there's a problem later ask questions...
Here's a photo of the spring and where it sets... I rarely even use them for whatever thats worth...

Thank you very much. That's the only way I could figure it would fit and what I thought I remembered when I disassembled. Looking at it, I'm not sure why the schematic would call this part "critical."
What purpose does it serve?
In fact, one of my father's guns didn't even have one. Fortunately, he had parts from another incomplete xp100 and it had the trigger balance, so I can install it on the working gun.0 -
I believe it just makes sure that the trigger is set back foreward, and like I mentioned, I rarely use them and have never had a problem with any of the triggers not working like they should.. 0 -
Nice pic. 0
