Once there are bids made can the "Buy It Now" be removed?

    I believe the "Buy it now" option is no longer available once a bid has been made on a no-reserve auction or once the reserve has been met on a reserve-style auction. However, the seller can't remove it once a bid has been placed. That's to prevent him from raising it.

    I have never noticed it not being usable until after the bid reaches the Buy It Now price. Or something like that.

    True; during a "No Reserve" auction with a "Buy Now" the "Buy Now" feature remains available until the bidding reaches the "Buy Now" amount.

    During ANY auction, once a bid has been made above the STARTING bid, any of the following cannot be modified: item description, starting bid, reserve, or buy it now. That includes changing the numbers, or adding and deleting. The only things that can be done is adding to the text in a seperate window, adding pictures, or ending the auction. If you end the auction when there is a bid above the reserve, or above the starting bid on a no reserve auction, then the highest bidder is the winner...unless you have made the original text of the item description, that the item is for sale elswhere, and if it sells there you reserve the right to end the auction. Hope this clears things up.

    Get it in writing (as a buyer)..that if the item has a bid on it, it won't be pulled prematurely. Do so prior to bidding. Best, Joe

    Never have figured out when the bid gets close to buy it now, the next bidder sometimes bids higher but does not hit buy it now. Duh.

    Just learned that lesson. I put my "Buy Now" too low and when I tried to raise it, a bid locked me out. [:(]

    There also is a quirky glitch involving 'Buy It Now' auctions. Let's say the BIN price is $80. I had a guy actually bid the $80. However, he did not click on the BIN button. He just placed a 'regular bid' for the $80. Common sense would imply that the auction would be automatically won by him. However, the next person who bid, ended up bidding the same $80 amount. However, unlike the previous bidder, this bidder clicked on the BIN button, and won the auction for the BIN price, even though the earlier bidder had bid the correct amount. I had a difficult time convincing the first bidder that I had to ship item to the second bidder, even though this gentleman had bid first, and he bid the correct amount. Moral of the story: If you don't click on the BUY IT NOW button, the software doesn't end the auction, even if the bid amount matches the BIN amount. Now, maybe on the newest GB software, this software glitch may have finally been correctly.

    My own experience was that once any bid was placed the BIN option, even though it was still visible could not be used. Strange, but it benefited me as the bidding went above the BIN price.
