Fegyvergyar Shotgun
A friend has a 12 ga. Shotgun that he is unsure of its value / history. The side of the receiver says "Fegyvergyar-Budapest" Frommers Patents Made in Hungary. It has engravings of two hunting dogs on one side and on the other side it has a Pheasant and a rabbit. The same text is on both sides of the receiver. The barrel has "USA patent # 1558158 D.80.341 Other patents applied for Registered No 728936"
It has a monte carlo type stock and there is some light surface rust on the barrel. I will post photos up next.

Because of the markings I would say it was manufactured for export sale to the U.S.
You might post to the forums at www.shotgunworld.com some of the people who are on the forum come from the other side of the pond, they might be able to give you more information on it.0 -
Interesting reinforcement on the rear of the receiver. I think Country of origin had to be placed on all guns imported to the USA after WW II but others may be better informed may have been as early as post WW the two round items one on each side are cocking indicators. I would the price when new was about on par with a Stevens or Fulton arms maybe as high as a Lefever or Ithaca . Todays price $200.00 in condition it is in. 0 -

There might be a number of proof marks and numbers on the under sides of the barrel and/or watertable. if you can get good close up of them it might be useful for dating the shotgun. 0 -
http://www.gunbroker.com/auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=133423259 auction that has a similar gun. (straight stock) it claims a patent # that is from 1925 (the same number that is on this gun)
Reading on this site it claims he designed a "Monte Carlo stock in 1929" I am guessing this gun was a 1929 design but perhaps not made that year.
