Arisaka type 38 Information needed

The marks over the mum was because the mum was the symbol of the Emperor of Japan and the soldiers were order to deface the mum before
surrendering the gun to the allies. not to "disgrace the emperor" Bob0 -
gnprts, I believe that the three inter-twined circles that are seen following the serial number indicate that the piece was made in the Kokura Arsenal, Japan.

IMO the type of Mum defacing seen on this rifle indicates a rifle removed from Military service by the Japanese, and given to a school to use as a trainer. Commonly called "School guns". 0 -

Finally got the time to go to my own posted link and check. That is a 'school gun" as stated above.[:D] 0
