gun prices
I have an FN57 less than 6 months old with only about 150 rounds fired. Also, a Sig P220 Elite Carry with Nitron finish less than 6 months old with less than 50 rounds fired.
What is the value of each, please?

are there any price differences in a gun that is a Westernfield compared to a Mossberg that are the same identical firearm? i never have bought a new gun, always bought used. all of them are "knock offs". ive always liked to buy used because of the outcome when im done with it. 0 -
Welcome to the forum. I don't know about a Westernfield, but I do know that the Mossberg is a solid shotgun that is being used by our military. A good used gun is fine, but I wouldn't try to cut cost on something like a shotgun. 0 -
Sometimes "store brand" guns are identical to the similar model sold by the manufacturer, sometimes they are of lesser quality.
But, they will generally sell for less on the secondary market.

Any westernfield I have seen are of the same quality but bring less because of the lack in collectors for them. Which model are you refering to? Westernfields are not knock offs they just have a different stamp is all. Tarus now thats a knock off. 0 -
thanks chris, all of my collection is ether sears roebuck, western auto, and westernfield. ive crossed all numbers and they all come back to the actual mfgr. all of my guns are either winchester, mossberg, or remington. my pride and joy are my ted williams 12ga. (now better than new) for around 100.00, .308 western auto, cleaned, oiled, firing pin, (about 125.00). thanks chris

[B)]sorry for the extra post. i was just tying to figure out if there was a different price range for the same firearm with diffent name stamps. ive never checked pricing on "name brands". i do all the work myself and usualy have a good eye when i look at gun. for some reason i buy firearms that no one wants. i am not a gunsmith by any means, form, or fashion. if machine work needs done i send it to uncle george's.

IMO alot depends on which MFG model your store brand is. Historically, store brand guns did bring less due to less collector interests. Generally about 25% less.
But that is IMO changing on high quality store brand guns.
Not all MFG models were good guns. Even if they had a respected MFG name. Winchester for example, has turned out a few turkeys.
But many of the Store Brand guns that were identical to vintage popular high quality MFG modles are bringing close to, if not the same prices as the MFG models. Simply due to increased interest via the internet and the ability to gain info. And supply & demand. Many people are just fine w/a Western Field marked Mossberg or Stevens .22 military type Target rifle. And willing to pay a top price. Because the QUALITY IS THERE.
Same w/the Sears Brand versions of Colt or High Standard pistols.
The collectors fields are IMO becomeing much more tolerant on store brand guns in recent years. As long as it IS a quality piece.0 -
About 99% of the time the store branded firearms sell for below those with the manufacturers name. In most cases they are a little plainer or lack small thing like last shot lock open, plainer wood, lesser sights ect. In some cases, like my .22 they were made for Sears (or whoever), but the manufacturer never built a comparable model.
The determining factor for price is not scarcity, or how fine the thing shoots, but demand. The demand from collectors for store brand firearms is scant (you are one of the few!). Thus, they will almost always bring $50 to $150 less than one with the Winchester, High Standard, or Savage name.
It is a great way to go for hunting rifles!0
