Left hand holster question

In searching for a vintage holster for my Model 1917 Colt 45 revolver, a find that many are left hand. An example is the attached photo in which all the right hand shooters have on left hand holsters. Is there some reason for this? Thanks

  Sounds like a joke to me, like a left handed shovel.[:D]

  As in the Civil War, right-handed shooters wore their holsters on the right hip, butt-forward, and used a "twist draw". This was to keep their revolver or pistol from falling out when riding.
