does anyone have any info on the iver johnson trailsmans that were made by t.a.l.a. i know they made 500 for them but any know why and have any other info??

First 500 manufactured in Argentina and assembled in U.S.A. (not all of these 500 were actually assembled)

    these pistols were not made by T.A.L.A as such but a later company that the only information i have is their name Fundalum which is marked on these pistols. T.A.L.A. did manufacture a clone of the early colt woodsmans in the 1960 but it had the short grip of the early woodsman models. the pistol Fundalium manufactured is more along the lines of the colt huntsman, it has a longer grip frame and side of the frame mounted push botton magazine release.

    the iver johnson trailsmans manufactured in argentine and imported by iver johnson all will be marked made in argentine by Fundalum along with the iver johnson markings. the serial number are on the very bottom of the butt (small enough to fit on the grip frame and will not have letter code prefix). the iver johnson trailmans manufactured in the U.S.A. will have the serial number on the upper right side of the frame (just in front of the slide) and have either a "AF" or "FG" prefix to the serial number.

    the exact number of the U.S.A. manufactured trailsman is unknown but it is estimated to be about 27,000. serial numbers on complete pistols have been seen in the 39,000 range but it is known that after the frames were machined, numbered and ready for assembly no preference in assembly was given to serial number order. i visted the factory several times in the late 1980's and early 1990's and saw frame with low serial number that were not assembled into complete pistols.
