Has anyone ever seen a Remington 600 with a chrome finish walnut stock vent rib. I have one that I received from the original owner. He bought it new and it is in excellent shape . please let me know Rob

    Is it possible to replace the plastic vent rib on a Remington 600 with metal rib that won't warp, yet look original. Thanks in advance.

    I guess that will depend on what information you are wanting to get. To my knowledge, there is no definitive history of the Remington M600. So I suggest contacting the Remington Society to see what they can offer in the way of history.

    There are reference books being published every day with subject matter about firearms and the manufacturers model history. Barnes & Noble has been a big help locating some of these for me in the past. There is an amazing selection of online booksellers who will often have out-of-print or used titles that can be difficult to find.

    Another resource is the magazine field. They will have a searchable database of their articles from the more recent past. Here is just one example:

    You will be faced with the task of putting together information from several sources as opposed to finding one full coverage, single source. It's not a bad thing since it can be a very fulfilling past-time to keep you occupied.
