Red Dot for .44Mag

I am going to try a red dot on one of my .44Mag revolvers hunting this year. I have heard all good things about them vs. typical "scopes". My dilema becomes WHICH ONE? I always try to buy "good quality" that will stand up to the task and last....

I plan on putting this on a Redhawk (with integral rings) the Hunter/Super version I believe.

What do you experts RECOMMEND???

  Adco makes ones that will stand up to the 44mag. That's what I put on my Redhawk.

  YIKES! For a moment there I thought you were planing on loading
  Red Dot in a 44 mag. (Only light target type loads)

  Avoid the low end "junk" sights (NCSTAR, BSA). These aren't well designed, and aren't likely to hold up to recoil battering.
  
  Two of the better brands include Aimpoint and Burris.

  I've been using a Millet on my Contender 10in. .44mag for five or six years and it works great with no problems. So far my longest shot on deer has been 80yds.

  Ultra dot from Larry's gun in Maine he is great to deal with and warranty station. They hold up for thousands of round even when mounted on the slide of 1911 type pistols Gilmore 35 MM is also great unit but hard to find. You can get the ultra dot in a model with adjustable dot size small for long distance and large for quick close in fast moving shots.

  I have a Tasco PPII on my Colt Anaconda. It has served me well for over 14 years. As said above, stay away from the low end ones. They will not hold up to the recoil.

  Well there are alot of high quality options here, I cant tell you which one would best suit you, but this is a well rounded over view of practical red dot sights in all price brackets.
  
  I prefer a Sight that has manually adjustable brightness settings.
  
  Aimpoint and Truglo make 2x red dots, they work just like regular red dots but give you 2x magnification.

  Eotech has just come out with a new smaller version of its holographic sighting system. The XPS2.

  If you want something smaller a Trijicon RMR, Aimpoint H-1, Burris Fastfire, bushnell TRS-25, and truglo trupoint are good examples of sights that wont change your guns ballance..
  
  the smaller open reflex sights usually have brightness sensors that automatically adjust the brightness of the aiming point. I like sights with manual adjustable brightness better because when shooting from darkened areas into lighted areas the aiming point can be to dim on target. There are a few exceptions like the RMR and trupoint.

  I can vouch for the quality of everything I have posted, I can also tell you that preciseness and rugidness improves the more money you spend. Gunbroker has a better price in about every case so look on here before you buy from the links to other sights... but, the links give the skinny on the sight specs better then the auctions.

  the most important part of your project is the mount, do NOT use a b-square (junk).
