M1911 A1-Arsenal rebuild?

Could the following gun be an arsenal rebuild? According to the serial number, the frame is an Ithical built in 1945. The slide says Colt. A gunsmith told me the outside ridges of the slide had been sanded smooth by someone.

  Most if not all arsenal reworks are marked to show where with a small, usually rather faint A, AA, RIA, or SA stamp. Mine is marked AA (Augusta Arsenal) on the left side of the frame in front of the slide stop.
  
  Yours is definitely a mismatch of some sort, it is a 1911 slide on a 1911A1 receiver. That might have been done at one of the arsenals, at lower level maintenance to produce one shootable gun out of two damaged ones, by a group of troops cleaning their guns together and not being careful about keeping parts together, or by Bubba making up a parts gun.
