Altered rifle

I've picked up a Browning 1885 in 454 Casull which has been reworked. Appears that the bluing has been stripped and has been
finished with a plum brown instead. Has globe style front site and
vernier tang rear. Stamped in about 1/8" letters on right side of
receiver is -02000- sv. wyo . Anyone familiar with a shop doing that
kind of mod?

  I am not familiar, but you can do a search. Sounds like the shop might be in Whyoming?
  
  That 454 does operate at a lot higher pressures than the 45-70, and could infact give you comparable ballistics to the 45-70, and the guy realized that...that is why the globe front sight, and vernier rear...sounds like someone was using it as a long range steel plate gun.
