When was it Mfg'd and what's it worth?

I have an S&W Airweight in .38 SPL.
Serial No. 8SS4600.
Any Idea when it was Mfg's and it's worth?

    We would need to see photos of your gun. Include all markings, especially data stamped on the frame (the part visible only when the cylinder is open), bottom of the grip frame, & both sides of the stocks.

    EDIT: OK, at least we can tell you that you have a "Model 37", not an "Airweight". Or, a "Model 37-2".

    It was made in the 1994-1997 period; maybe someone else has a more exact year. But, I'm curious. Why do you care when it was manufactured?

    Date stamp on frame is the Serial no. M37-2 under that. On the swing out is 010.
    Left side; Smith and Wesson
    Right side; SW trade make emblem.
    Below the cylinder; Airweight.
    Forward of that; Made in U.S.A., Marcas Registradas, Smith & Wesson, Sprinfield, Mass.
    On the barrel, .38 S.&W. SPL.
    On the butt is the Serial No.
    The grip is black rubber, checkered. 2 Finger groves and no mfg markings.
    Barrel length is 2".

    And the condition? That is why we ask for photos. Imagine I said, "I have a blue car. It is a Ford, what is it worth?"

    We can disagree significantly over whether the gun is 99% conditon or 89% condition, but photos tell the story if they are good and all can evaluate.

    You have given us more than that, but conditon will have the largest impact on value in most cases, uless it is a Jennings.

    Ok, Now I understand the why the pictures.
    The gun is like, no dings, dents, scratches or holster rubbing. If it was shot before I got it, it wasn't shot much. I put 3 boxes thru it and the bore is like brand new.

    The S&W M37-2 was introduced in 1990 & then changed to M37-3 in 1997.
    Your gun was made in that time frame.

    Use a magnifying glass & re-check the ser#, it is probably in fact BSS prefix rather than 8SS. A BSS gun was made in 1995.

    The "Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson" lists the Model 37 as:

    Exc $375
    VG $300
    Good $250

    It does read BSS. The s/n was does with a pin punch. lazer would be easier to read.
