Front sight on a stevens 66c 22cal rifle
I bought 1 of these and the front sight looks like a rear peep sight. The rear is a typical v rear sight. I was wondering if this was the original sight and if so how exactly it works. I know this may seem foolish but this is the first time I've ever seen this.

Some of the Model 66's also came from factory w/a rear peep sight. And a hooded front w/changable posts.
Yours may have had one originally. A pretty "Micky Mouse" affair IMO. The one I had, had the rear peep and the front you describe. I took the rear peep off and added a barrel sight. Any screw holes near rear of receiver?
Numrich Arms still sells the front sight posts. 3 or 4 different types. The Hoods are hard to find.0
