M1911 A1 question

I have an M1911 A1. According to the serial number, the frame is an Ithica built in 1945 and the slide is stamped Colt. Could this be an arsenal rebuild?

    Could be. Or, it could be something completely different.

    Without photos, we would just be guessing.

    Hello just like most M1 carbines Most all 1911A1 have been through a Rebuild at one time These should be marked. Also many times someone working in a military arms room was given the job to CLEAN 10 or more Company pistols used by Officers and N.C.O. .these guys took the pistols apart put them in a bucket of cleaner and then put them back together without paying any attention to what slide went on what frame[:0][:(] and then there is Bubba that collected all kinds of parts and BUILT a bunch of pistols some may be good and others an accident waiting to happen[:(!][V] . There are a few tell - tale things to look for to see what you have.
