44-40 ammo?

What would be the best 44-40 ammo for my 1873? It was producced in 1899 and is a 3rd. Model.

  Any of the currently manufatured factory ammo is safe to use in your old 1873 as long as it is in safe operating condition. The Cowboy Action ammo is the best option in my opinion.

  One should always check the fit of the action links in an 1873 before deciding to shoot it. Properly fitted links carry the firing load from link to link NOT on the pins. Just because a set of links fits into a receiver and operate doesn't mean the gun is safe to fire.
