Remington Rand and Ithica National Match

Are there differences between the Rand and the Ithica ? besides the name? I've seen examples of both, except the Rand had the Colt slide and nickel barrel. The Ithica had the Colt slide and a blue barrel.
Both guns have the barrel serial numbered to the frame.
Both have the slanted serration slide with correct NM number..

My Colt book by Jenkins covers NM very good, except that it doesn't go into detail on the armory re-built ones..[:(]

    I don't think the barrel is nickle but rather "IN THE WHITE" and polished the blued one may have been blued after it had the hood fitted and the bottom lugs cut. Remember these slides and barrels came over size and most were refinished after they were fitted. as Far as Rem. Rand Vs Ithaca also remember these frames were RACK guns The Rockwell test on the frames I have tested had the Ithaca slightly harder but not by much . if I had my choice I like the Kensight rear sight the best of all of the sights they used. MUCH BETTER

    thanks, now I understand what "In the white" means.. been wondering for a couple weeks lol..
    Just looked it up. They started putting the Kensight's on NM in 1967.I bet the sight pins stay in the Kensights... My Eliason rear sight pin won't stay centered in my 70 GC.. Do they make a tapered pin for that ?
    Does the small Clawson guide tell when the re-works were made or do you need the big book for that ?
    Almost bought the small one Saturday, but it was signed by Clawson,, 50% more money ...[:(]

    I dont have the small Clawson book because in talking directly to him at Ky gun shows he stated there was no updated info in the small book that was not in the original large book[:(]. as far as the pin in the Eliason sight . I take a piece of piano wire ans wire size drills and made sure the moveable part of the sight is free to move on the pi but it is snug on the two oldsie pieces then I slightly crush the one end of the pin tap into the sight and never had my pin to bend or break.     I have the small book currently and do not recall seeing info on re-works in it, great little book, well worth the $65.00 I shelled out for it. Like you I'm still 'saving up' for the big book; of course I only recently started my 1911 'love affair' so give me time and I'll own it too.
