parts for colt defender
this is my first colt 1911 style pistol and was wondering what standard 1911 part fit it. There are not many parts in the catologs I have that say they are for the colt defender so I don't know which ones fit. I was mainly looking for a recoil assembly and some magazines but would like to know the other parts too.

Officers magazines. Hammer,sear, trigger, disconnector from full size 1911's. The recoil assy. has to be from the same size pistol. Full size mags will work but hang down some. 0 -
the recall assembly is one of the recall parts. go to the colt website and have one sent to you. you don't have to send in the gun to get the parts, and it's free! 0 -

Alot of thestandard 1911 stuff works, but check out Officers model parts - Midway has an OK section:

Basically the same gun with an alloy frame, stainless finish. I have the Defender, got some nice checkered walnut grips with medallions from CDNN for $24.00. I think the rubber ones look lousy.0 -
Thanks for the help. Did the officer model have a 3 1/2"barrel. Will the recoil springs and guide rod work with my 3" barrel. 0
