10/22 upgrade
hi guys just put a light pull trigger kit in from a guy on gb works awsome just ordered bolt buffer my question is,is there an advantage to polishing your bolt

If there is you will never be able to tell it. It is a 10/22 not a high end target rifle. It can be capable of fine accuracy, but the polished bolt is unlikely to contribute much to that.
On the other hand since you ordered the buffer, there is no reason NOT to polish the bolt, if only in the quest for yet another $800 10/22.
(I am being snobish here, I only have about $650 in my 10/22, so I am not over the top at all)0 -

Yeah, it looks prettier polished.
If you're expecting a difference in accuracy or reliability, I don't think you'll find any.
I say, if you're going to polish the bolt, you might as well have it jewelled.
Edit: If you check the auctions on GB, there is a guy who does it for $20 (plus shipping, which ought to be pretty cheap).
FWIW, my own 10/22 probably "only" has $450 in it, so its practically a "Yugo" [;)]

Receiver and bolt usually. . .but yes, you're right.
Still, you have to figure that swapping the barrel, stock and trigger are going to be the top three mods to ANY custom gun. If you're starting with a $150 used gun, its not necessarily cost-ineffective to build a really nice custom 10/22 in exactly the configuration you like.
Ruger does make special issue guns with many of these custom features already installed (eg like a bull barrel, etc), but those cost far more than the base $200 gun.0 -

I doubt polishing the bolt is going to do much good.
trigger, barrel, stock, etc etc, by the time you have a target 22, you no longer have a 10/22. (except maybe just the reciever.0 -
A simple polish alone wont do much, but when you have the headspace recut and squared you might as well have it polished and jeweled. 0 -

oh i left out my 10/22 has a 6.5x20x50 scope probly worth more than the gun 0 -
