LH Remington

I am selling some of my late uncle's gun collection and have been researching some of the guns for value; two are Reminton 12-gauage models; one is an 1100 magnum, one is an 1187 premier model. Both are left handed; does being LH hurt the value or improve it? Thanks for any input

    It should not hurt the value, but there will be a little smaller market for them. I have 4 left hand Remington guns. Paid a fair price for them. A couple I got at auctions and didnt have to bid against too many people as they did not command the same interest as the right hand models.

    Because you are trying to sell these, many dealers and other potential buyers would have you believe that they are worth less because they are lefthanded. They will be profuse with examples of lefthand guns sitting interminably on their shelves. After all, I believe that only about six percent of the population is lefthanded.

    On the other hand, if you were trying to buy these guns, those same hucksters would be quick to point out that these are highly sought after guns and almost rare. Accordingly, you may never see another one like it for the rest of your lifetime.

    I would suggest that the two models that you have would be worth very close to the value of similar condition right hand models.

    Since lefties are just 10% of the population, you have lost a bunch of potential buyers, but these 2 guns are popular, so for a fair price they should sell!
