How much is too much?

I have a chance to pick up a Knight HK94 .50cal muzzle loader pistol.
The guy says he will sell it cheap, because it was caught in a flood. It does has surface rust, but does NOT appear serious from the pictures I've seen.
I don't know about the trigger mechanism, or firing pin(in-line).
I also don't know the value of this gun new.
What is a new price? What might be too much?
I know I should have pics but I don't.
Just asking for ballpark figures.

    If conservation was not done immediately after the gun was caught in the flood (&, obviously, it wasn't), then a prudent person should assume that is it ruined.

    In your position, I'd offer to pay the shipping charge (only) & consider it a project gun I could take apart, play with, & POSSIBLY restore.

    I see people asking 350 for them, but I see them selling at gunshows for far less.
    Having been in a flood, there is no way for you to know what was in the water, and therefore what trace elements may remain.

    As for ballpark, I won't venture there. My advice would be to stay away from it.
