Iver Johnson .380 Pony
I have heard that a magazine for a Colt Pony and an IJ Pony are interchangeable. Does anyone have any information on this?

i do not believe so. in order to make the gun importable Firearms International extended the butt of thier pistol so that the magazine was inclosed in a area that was covered at the front and rear but open at the sides and then used a large base plate on the magazine. the iver johnson and the FI are the same pistol. the colt government model 380 is different in many ways. one is the bottom of the butt frame area. on one of my iver johnson ponies i removed the excess metal from the butt frame and then replaced the magazine floor plate with one from the original design Star and it makes a more compact carry guns.

The magazines for the ORIGINAL Colt Pony were the same as the IJs. There weren't very many Colt Ponies made. I'm not sure if Colt used the name "Pony" on any other guns. 0 -
