Remington 7400
has anyone heard of gas block cracking on 7400? what could cause and can gun be fixed. gun is 30-06 delux

Hi have a 308 remington 7400, the gun has been chamming. After taken the gun to three different gun smith, they came to the conclusion that the barrel had a problem with it. Seem that the carthridge would expand and have problems ejecting. I keep my gun clean and I had never heard of this problem.
Has anybody ever heard of this kind of problem?
It is possible to change the barrel?
And where can I buy a used barrel?

hello, why would anyone want one! the remington auto rifles have been problematic from day one. if not kept unbeleivably clean, they are prone to jaming. the idea of a auto rifle can be appealing, but if you cant rely on them, whats the purpose. just ask you local gun smith what he thinks. ive seen too many come through our shop! 0 -
There are lots of Remington autos out there and most seem to be in '06. Fine guns for the occasional hunter who only shoots a few rounds a year. Very popular in the Northeast but there seem to be lots of them in other parts of the country. I have a 742 in '06 for pigs in Texas; the auto isn't a bad choice when pigs come a dozen to a group. Usually see them on the used market for $300 to $400 depending on condition; have seen many of them sell in the $350 range at guns shows in Texas. Might get a little more depending on the scope and if it is in really good condition. 0 -
Between the two of you that would explain the lack of sales here on GB. Almost all of them (in different calibres and scoped or not) are being sold for starting bid of 450 or the reserve is somewhere north of 500. Thanks again for your help 0 -
Get a Browning, I've got both, a 7400 and it is OK if you don't mind:
Weak firing pin
Tight chamber
Mediocre trigger
Unreliable, works best with hot loads0
