S&W 916 question
Before you say it... yeah I know it's considered a POS.
Has anyone had one of these apart?
Need to figure out if the forearm can be replaced without taking the bolt and trigger assembly back out. The bar just don't 'fall' into place, (manual says to 'remove the cap,tube,and remove the forearm, reinstall in reverse')
Hoping there's a 'trick' to reinstalling it. something like bolt position, or pulling the trigger, or something. (although I've tried these two to no avail)
Got it as a basket case,and didn't take it apart myself. But didn't install the slide bar when I put it together. [B)]
MIKE WISKEY. Naah! I want to chop it,paint it camo,add a tacticool light, and display it proudly beside my RG! Gotta have something left over after the boating accident ya know. [V]

Chris. Thanks for answering. From what I can find, many of these guns had feeding problems, bad enough for S&W to drop the line and go with Howa. After looking at the quality of the finish on the internal parts, I think I can see why. Some of these pieces look like they were cut out with an hacksaw and dropped in. And this was a S&W owned American company (Noble) [B)]
I'll see what a little judicious smoothing will do before reassembling it. Got nothing better to do right now except keep the grass cut back anyway. [8D]

I am thinking you would have to remove the bolt and trigger to get the forearm out. My grandpa has one but it stays in the basement now on the wall. 0
