Colt AR in 22 LR

Has any one shot one of these? We are looking to purchase one and wanted to know if there would be any information. We are looking at the M-16 version that does not have the adjustable stock. Not looking for details, just if it shoots good and is reliable.

    A fellow shooter at my club had one last week at our 3-gun match. He shot it along with his kid. It performed perfectly the entire time. They probably put a couple hundred rounds thru it.

    Got one four months ago. Shoots good, eats everything put through it so far.

    i have one and i like it very much..., BUT ! i have some issues with it, first is the wrench to loosen the flash hider two turns to open it up, then as recommended by UMAREX, "beat out the take down pin with punch and hammer", then there is no user removable parts for cleaning. the safety is a b!tch, it requires a full 180 degree flip, bench shooting with the 30 rnd mag is very uncomfortable, requiring the gun to be rested much higher than a regular AR-15, she shoots great, at 50 yds. slow fire i shot a 30 round group of 1 3/4th inch, rapid fire as soon as getting back on target produced a 1 1/2" group, i have the M4 tactical version that i put a C-More tactical sight on, ATAC_1.jpg

    this model has irons and the red dot, i believe this sight is the best for this little carbine.., just my OPINION !!

    To be clear, these guns aren't actually manufactured by Colt, they are just produced using the Colt licensed name.

    I think the biggest drawback to these is that they are NOT true AR-platform guns.

    Sure, they LOOK like AR-15 guns, and AR-15 type *accessories* might fit on them, but they don't use real AR-15 frames, for example, and you can't swap an upper with a "real" AR-15 in .223 for example.

    I don't know to what extent other parts assemblies (eg trigger, etc) are truly compatible either.

    Depending on what your use is for this gun, it may not make any difference, but personally I'd rather go the route of assembling a "real" AR-15 clone (even if it doesn't say "Colt" on it), with a dedicated .22LR upper, though this will probably cost a bit more.
