Colt Frontier Six Shooter (Peacemaker)

I have this gun, 1871 with a genuine pearl handle. The serial number is 339181. In the process of getting the archive letter from Colt on this, but wondering if you can help with a ball-park figure for value? Should I take it for an appraisal, or is it more of a common piece with little value? Thanks in advance!

    The frontier six shooter was not made and shipped until 1873 don't let pat. dates confuse you Yours was shipped much later. A colt letter is a very good investment as these guns are one of the most collected fire arms every made as to value you question is sort of like asking I have a 3 bed room house WHAT IS IT Worth.[?][?][?] Good detailed pictures in focus from all angles with all markings will be the only way that we can even guess . price range could be from $400.00 - $40,000.00 letterfrom colt will tell you if grips are original as shipped ETC I would let this group of members see your pictures first before taken to anyone so YOU DON'T get TAKEN. as it is now you most likely would take $5009.99 for it and it may be a put together FAKE wort very little or it may be something SPECIAL.

    The serial number dates to 1920. Colt made some detail changes like serial number location that year that are of interest to collectors.

    You do not show a picture or describe the caliber, finish, barrel length and condition of the gun. Is it a REAL Frontier Six Shooter, so marked and in caliber .44-40, for example? The pearl grips signify only if they are original and show up in the letter.

    I don't know who to take a gun to for appraisal in any case. The only dollar amount that matters to me is a cash offer to buy or sell.

    yaa..., photos of every mark, number and scratch, remove cylinder and photo it separately front, back and side, sometimes people write a short note and put it in the grip frame, if you never took off those pearl grips do so and photo them from the inside also the bare grip frame from both sides.

    Thanks everyone! I will take the photos next Tuesday and post them. I keep the gun at work in a safe and won't have access till then for photos. I really appreciate your efforts and candor thus far !!!
