Krag Carbine Help -2 (Spider?)

One more question for Spider & others........

If I purchase this carbine, and the owner includes a signed letter that names his grandfather as the original owner including the Serial Number........as well as a copy of his service record, discharge papers, service photos.....etc.....

Would this add to the "collector value" of this carbine?

Or.......would it need to be something more official than that?

    The answer to your question lies with the person who is interested in buying it. Some may add value to it, most will not.

    Bert is correct that it is up to the buyer. However, the importance is if the carbine was actually issued to and used by your grandfather or simply owned by him following the war. It may be worth researching the serial number through Springfield Research Service as they may have that serial number in their extensive data base.
