Vintage web belt

I've got a vintage web belt from WW2. It has one snap built in that faces the body. Can anyone tell what that was for? Thanks

  I believe that snap matched the male/female part that was on the back of the magazine pouch that was worn on the belt. The snap was to hold it in place. Most web gear accessories that were worn on the pistol belt were attached to the holes and would not slide around.

  If you look at a mag pouch on the stock of a M1 carbine, you will see a snap. Most guys put a piece of tape over it so the snap will not scratch the stock.
  That just shows how inventive the guys that carried the carbine were [;)]
