Colt AR15 Changing triggers

Has anyone tried to change a trigger on the Colt M4? I purchased a Timney trigger and they mentioned a sear block. It is a newer model 6721 M4 I purchased new in the last year. I'm getting conflicting info on different year models of the Colt M4.

    I am not sure what they mean by a sear block, but that trigger should just drop right in, and use your hammer and trigger pin holes for alignment. If I remember correctly, the Timney has its on Hammer, and is a self contained unit.

    I was reading forums and some said that the newer Colts might not have the sear block and the Timney instructions said that you have to take it to a gunsmith for the sear block removal. I would like to install this trigger but I hate try to get lt apart and find that has a sear block. As I mentioned some people said it had it on some rifles in different years, I'm not sure about the newer ones. Does anyone know if this trigger installation has been tried by a person, not a gunsmith?

    If you have a newer rifle, it does not have a sear block that needs to be removed. A lot of regular people have installed these, as you simply remove the trigger and hammer and their springs, and replace it with the Timney one that is self enclosed. I am not sure, butr the Timney one might even include new pins that have an e-clip on the outside to secure them.

    Sear blocks were made as part of the lower reciever so people couldn't put a drop auto sear in. All the newer lowers I've seen have the block machined out.

    I appreciate the info, now I feel like it is likely I'll be able to install it myself without the sear block issue and a gunsmith to work on the block. The instructions from Timney included in the trigger package must have been sort of generic to fit all year models. I ordered the large pin trigger and I think in the newer ones like I bought it called for that size, I hope. reading other forums can get you confused due to conflicting info. I read that Colt were going to change to the small pin, but I don't think they have on this model. I guess it's time to try the install. I'll let you know if it fits easily.

    After looking at my Colt AR15 I think I was able, by the pictures to see if I had a sear block. Unless it is under the trigger group than I don't have anything that looks like what I saw in the pictures. (I doubt is under the trigger.) The reason I was I was checking to see if it had one was the instructions Timney sent with the trigger and I didn't know what a sear block looked like.[8D]

    I got the trigger in the rifle after a while of fumbling around trying to get the locking screws in but once they were in I tried the trigger and it works great. Thanks to all helped me through this project it went well.
