Remington-Browning Patent-U.S. marked 12ga.

Has anyone ever seen or own a Remington 12ga. patterned after the Browning Shotgun Auto 5 that was marked U.S. The only markings on the gun were on the barrel. It read Remington Firearms Co with Browning Patent under the Rem name. It had U.S. with the flaming bomb on top of the barrel a little out from the receiver. It was marked Imp Cyl and apparently someone had added a adjustable choke to the barrel. There were no markings on the receiver, other than a serial number somewhere on it. After seeing the adj. choke, I didn't pay much attention to the gun, but after getting home, I started to think about it. Just curious if there were many of these out there that were marked U.S. Thanks for any info.

  Remington model 11 I don't have the information in front of me right now on how many were made for the military

  War Department Technical Manual, TM 9-285, dated Sept. 21, 1942 describes two types Remington Model 11's, the Model 11 and the Model 11 Sportsman. The riot-type shotgun, usually furnished with a 20" barrel bored full cylinder w/o the bayonet lug, the sporting skeet-type usually furnished with a 26" plain or ribbed barrel usually bored improved cylinder, and the trap-gun usually furnished with a 30", full choke barrel. There is no mention of one with an adjustable choke so I would think that was an aftermarket addition and severely detracting from the value of an otherwise very collectable shotgun.
