Converting the Rem. 700

I want to convert my 700 to accept external magazines does anyone have any expirience doing this?
Any pointers or advice would be great.

    I used the Remington factory kit to my PSS-LTR. The trigger guard and mag well just dropped in, and I marked the stock where it had to be removed and it works good. I hear the other kits work about the same way.

    That is one of the main reasons I sold my Rem. 788. Those detachable magazines were a pain for me to keep up with between seasons. I had three magazines for the rifle and at any given time I could probably find one and only because that one was in the rifle.

    I sold it and got me a Rem. 700 .243.

    Just personal preference, didn't mean to hijack your thread.

    I'm not sure if this would work with a Remington 700 but it worked out perfectly for me with a Winchester Model 70. The Model 70 had a synthetic stock with a blind magazine and I wanted a detachable magazine. I saw another Model 70 for sale at a good price in the same caliber with a detachable magazine and with a muzzlebrake and nice Redfield 3-9 scope. I don't like muzzlebrakes but bought the rifle anyway and switched stocks/magazines and scopes. I then re-sold the new rifle for what I had paid. Result: I now have a Model 70 with a better quality synthetic stock and detachable magazine and a Lo-pro Redfield 3-9.....at no additional cost.

    Only if you are more specific as to the type of detachable magazine that you want use as an end result. The factory magazines are distinctly different from the other, higher capacity magazines available. There is also a difference in the prices.

    I have an SPS tactical in .308 I want a few detachable mags for quicker reloads at the range when I'm shooting with my buddies. 4 rounders would be fine as I think ten rounds would ruin my shoulder pretty fast.

    Kwick Klip makes a trigger guard that is a drop in and they work well!

    Converted my Remington LA Sendero with an HS stock over to the stock mags using a trigger guard assembly from a DM rifle. I had to file alittle (very little) from the inside of the aluminum frame and the notches on the side for the mag release but now I keep my rifle pointed at the target, carry 5 extra mags filled with ammo and I don't have to lose sight of my target. Reloading only takes a few seconds and your back in business It's far better then shoving ammo past the scope base and fiddling around while your target moves away. Never hurt the accuracy of the rifle either. Think about going in that direction. You won't regret it.
