Model B63B Belknap Shotgun
Description
Stamped Belknap Model B63B Louisville,Ky.on left side of receiver. Right side break lever. Engraved rabbit on right receiver. Single barrel 30 inches reads "proof tested 12 gauge 3 inch chamber". Left side of receiver near buttstock in corner is a small circle with 36s in it. My understanding is that Belknap Hardware in Louisville had these made for them. Do you know who made this animal or anything about it? Thanks.

Hello Raymond . Interesting that it reads 3" Chamber. as the 3" 12gage was not made early in the 20th century so this makes it a fairly modern shotgun being it is side lever rather the top lever that will limit the number of makers . With good closeup pictures I believe we could tell you who made the gun . Did you pull the forearm off and dismount the barrel [?]If you do that you may see some more marks or names. I suspect it may have been made in BRAZIL.

Thanks. shotgun appears pretty well made.maybe not as well as my 37winchesters.was thinking the number 36 was for 1936. in excellent shape except bore very badly pitted. trying to find a barrel for my dad in VA.(he is 87 now) tried Numerich Arms.appears they might have an aftermarket barrel and I need to pin it down with them.will dig deeper and try to take some pictures next trip to Va. 0
