I know I can't get a factory letter, but I was wondering if your polishing room records might have any info you could give me. SN112XX, which puts it at just over half of production. Blue book puts it as manf. at the very end of 1913, but that would make the other half produced over the next 23 years. It is a fancy sporting rifle with the checkering. It has a Lyman 41 receiver sight and Marbles #6 front sight, which Old Gunsights lists as options on it. The one other question I have is it has a sling swival on the rear stock but none on the front. The only thing is a hole on the forearm cap, no sling swival. Is that were it would have been? Do you know if it would be factory or aftermarket? Thanks for any help you or anyone else can give me.

Unfortunately, I have no records for the Model 1901 (yet). That said, I sincerely doubt that the Blue Book is correct.
The hole in the forend cap is where the front sling eye was originally installed. More than likely the sling swivel is original.0 -
My model 1910 has what I've alway thought to be the original sling swivel on the forend cap. There are a few other 401s floating around this area, and I'm sure two of them are the same configuration as mine. They where big with bear hunters around here back in the day.
