walther ppk 7.65mm & holster? 90 degree safety

i have a walther ppk serial number 923920 with original flap holster that also has spot for extra magazine that is marked D.R.G.M.
what does this stand for? also when would have this been manufactured? i would ask value but i have not had time yet to take pictures and post but plan on it and then will post for sale. it also has black grips on it and a second set that say walther and made in german a repro. left side says Waffenfabrik Walther,Zella-mehlis (Thur) the u has 2 dots above it. Walther's Patent Cal 7,65m/m Mod.PPK also WALTHER in ther banner right side has a N with a crown above it on the barrel and slide and the serial. it also has a lanyard lop on the bottom of the frame.
one of the magazines has a black finger extension while the other does not. i would say about 80% finish and the holster definitely shows its age but is still solid and useable.

it also has a 90 degree safety

also is this CA legal the dealer i use does ship to CA.
i also just received my C&R and wondered what i can and can not ship as well. i am still waiting for the packet from the batf.
from the time i got the form and sent it in the next day it only took me 13 days to get my c&r. thanks for your help on that end. i am still waiting for that packet before my Alaska shipment of firearms. i want to make sure i am correct before those all come my way.

anybody have an idea what a 90 degree safety crown n goes for in about 80%. i want a idea before i post

    There is no way of knowing the specific DOM of the Walther, but it probably dates to 1938. Most likely the marking D.R.C.M. is in reality D.R.G.M.. It means translated into English, that the design for the holster was registered in the German Empire. It's a very common marking on holsters and accessories of that era.

    As a Curio and Relic that pistol is legal for shipment to CA. In most cases you as the shipper do not need an FFL of any kind to ship a firearm, only the party on the receiving end needs the FFL. There are some states which don't allow a non licensee to ship firearms and there are some dealers who won't accept shipments from non dealers, but the federal regulations don't mandate that the actual shipper hold an FFL.

    frisky-maddog...the serial number on your ppk (923xxx)indicates IMO that it is probably a postwar pistol as the wartime ppk's were in the 270xxx-420xxx # sequence and yours is much higher. The DRGM holster is also more than likely postwar. If that is the case, your gun does not qualify for C&R as it is postwar 1946+ so I would be careful. Of course, photos would greatly help when you ask for both age and value. Wartime waffenmarked ppk's in great shape bring four figures plus and party leaders and specially marked ppk's bring much more. Quality of grips is critical to value. Wartime DRGM holsters also bring a premium if in pristine shape. Postwar much less in both cases. Check the auctionside of GB and you can follow value. Hope this helps. Good shooting!

    ...tell be that the gun is a PRE- WWII piece. Is my thinking correct? Aren't the POST- WWII guns marked "ULM/ DO", instead of "Zella-mehlis"?

    Because of the 50 year rule, all post W W II manufactured PPK's made prior to 1959 would be considered C & R's. As Frisk-Maddog's PPK was manufactured prior to 1940, this is moot.

    I would hold on to it, unless you have to sell it now. Because of the economy things really s**k now. Cosmetic condition is everything to a lot of collectors.

    A prewar commercial at 80%, not likely to be a big buck collectors item.

    $300 to $450 would be my guess, a lot would depend on the extent and areas of finish wear,

    Keep in mind that the C & R handgun, even though greater than 50 years old and OK for CA, it must be shipped to a Type 01 FFL (dealer) in CA. A Type 03 FFL (Collector) in CA can not directly receive the C & R handgun.

    If your FFL Dealer sends the PPK to a CA FFL Dealer, he'll have to use the CA CFLC system, and if he's already shipping he's probably already signed up. If you, as a nonlicensee, mail the PPK to a CA FFL you don't have to use the CA CFLC system. Just be certain the CA FFL receiving will accept the gun from a nonFFL and what paperwork he'll want.
