H&R M4 Survival Rifle

I need the "body" of an H&R M4 pilot survival rifle. I'll try to attach pictures. The part I need is the one in the picture with the ruler. Social Security numbers are engraved on the other side. Any recommendations where I can start looking? Any value ranges? The SN on the barrell and receiver match but the 16" barrell was extended. If the images are too large or small please let me know how to fix it. I can't seem to get this right.

    You hade some extra Web URL attached to the front of your pictures' URLs, and you had the Hunt 101 "thumbnail" info, too.[;)] URLs can be a royal pain, sometimes.[:D]

    These rifles are fairly scarce in the public market and are highly collectible by several catagories of collectors. In original config. with a 13 3/4" Barrel they are NFS SBR. If the barrel you have is over 16" it will be legal to install on a receiver. Now, that being said, the receiver itself IS the firearm. I have seen in person or on the internet maybe a dozen of these COMPLETE rifles in the past 15 years that I've been collecting H&R firearms. I have never seen any parts, parts kits or receiver's (stripped or not) offered - that's not to say that they don't exist. The selling price at retail for all of the examples of completed pieces that I have seen have started around $1400 and for all original registered pieces, exceeded $2000. I'm thinking that your best bet to find a receiver would be to check the auction sites regularly, post a want add on this web site, shotgun news, ets. If the only defect your current receiver has is inscribed SSN from previous owner, that can be removed with judicious polishing so as not to screw up the receiver. That is the route I would take, if the firearm were mine. Your choice - good luck in your search.

    This is my first return here since my original post. I've had some problem with my acct name, couldn't sign in, no email so I didn't think anyone posted a reply. Anyway thanks for all your input. I'll visit those recommendations and learn how to post a pic (thanks for doing it for me). I got this rifle about 40 years ago when my g'pa died and used to plink with it. It's complete and fully functional. The barrell is the short one with a piece of .410 pressed on the end to make it of legal length. I appreciate all your replys, they have been VERY helpful. I'll continue to look through those sites you recommended. The San is in that metal shroud and may be too deep to polish out but I'll give it a try. Thanks again.

    Did you ever find a barrel, receiver, bolt assembly for your m4? I have the opposite problem. I have the barrel and action assembly but I have no stock and frame for my m4. I aquired it from a cousin and they had discarded the frame in the 50's and put it on a wooden stock. I would dearly love to find an original stock and frame for it. If in your search you have found one please let me know.

    I recently purchased the lower portion of the m-4. Is there anyone interested in seeing it? I am gonna try to post pics.
