Welcome to the forum. I don't have the slightest idea of the value, but it is not declining. I have a 99F in 308 Win. that I bought about 7 years ago for $325; that is ancient history. Try it; you will like it. I would not sell it. 0 -

Depending on what shop and what gun value book you read the price on those can run anywhere from $300 in beater condition on up to $700 in pristine condition. I know of a couple around here (.308's) that are priced at $549 and $599 and the owner won't budge. As mentioned in a bunch of other posts it's demand that drives price up not rarity. .308 seems to be the magic 'go to' round for most people. So, the demand is up, even though it's a very common round in this rifle. If you start talking about rare or unusual calibers/configurations in this rifle, the prices sometimes went as high as $2000. That is ones that actually sold. They were engraved, takedowns in pristine condition from way back in the early days of the rifle's manufacture.
Anyways, I hope that sheds a little light on this rifle. They are great rifles. Fast loading, and if early enough have a convenient little shell counter for you in case you don't remember if you shot four or "...Was it five?"0 -
The C I think designates Clip instead of rotary. Nonetheless It is a great round and the Savage 99 is a great gun for the high performance round. Enjoy, kill a few deer for the gang!! 0 -

That's a Savage thing. Browning does it too in some of their shotgun and rifle and even the Buckmark pistols.
Just curious if this has anything else on the action, like engraving? If so, this may be a PE grade 99C (PE=presentation/exhibition) Usually, that is marked on the box or paperwork that came with the rifle.0 -
Welcome to the Forum. I also have a Savage 99C in .308 with the gold trigger. I have never seen the gold trigger mentioned in the Blue Book or elsewhere. I purchased mine new in '68 or '69. I don't know the significance of the gold. 0 -
Marlin has also done the gold trigger thing, as on the "Golden 39." It is factory and adds no value. 0
